ElevatedJobs is my humble attempt to share my understanding of jobs and career options in Canada (specifically in Eastern Ontario - i.e. Toronto and Ottawa) with everyone who can potentially benefit from such an understanding. Through “Elevated Jobs”, I will try my best to collect and deliver the most current jobs in the two cities on a (regular) daily basis. Why this Initiative:

I have created this platform for all of us - those with an interest in and passion for the untested and untried - to consolidate our views, knowledge and best practises around “jobs” and “job search” for the common benefit of all of us. The very nature of “Employment” - i.e. an activity that takes almost 75% of our daily life - dictates that one (who is working on a job for someone else) should always be plugged into what opportunities are available in their immediate environment, and should always be on a lookout for betterment. The idea here is to keep it provocative, thoughtful and slightly over the edge - while giving everyone access to what all of us collectively know about the job market in our areas.

This is not a monetization play, but an attempt to bring out our collective information so that we stop having dependence on others for something that is so central to our day to day life. I am doing this in parallel with another initiative through my personal blog which is aimed at improving our collective understanding of “entrepreneurship” and “business leadership” in our part of the world. Manu

Who am I:

Manu is engaged with the Ottawa Centre for Research & Innovation (OCRI) as a Business Development Manager, a role in which he facilitates and supports collaborations between the technology industry and the research community in the Ottawa area. He also closely works with budding and established entrepreneurs in the community by providing them new venture creation support through OCRI’s Entrepreneurship Centre (EC).

Manu has a strong background in technology management and business development. His diverse background includes a degree in Engineering with a B-Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering and a M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois. He also holds a MBA in Organizational Behavior & Technology Management and is currently on an academic hiatus from his Ph.D. program in Organizational Behavior & Change Management at Carleton University. Prior to his engagement with OCRI, Manu served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Trillium College, a role in which he led and managed strategic, tactical, and short-term operations of the forty people strong organization. Manu gathered and developed the bulk of his understanding of “entrepreneurship” and “innovation” during his association with the Carleton University Foundry Program - in his opinion the most fascinating initiative ever developed on an academic campus to encourage and support entrepreneurship.
